Daily Devotions thread...
Perhaps we can use this place to post snippets or entire daily devotions that we may get.....this way, there won't be clusters and clusters of daily devotions everywhere....
I got this today, and figured that someone on this site may need this one day or eve now...enjoy!
Free from the opinions of people
'IT MATTERS VERY LITTLE TO ME WHAT YOU THINK OF ME...' 1 CORINTHIANS 4:3
While we should respect the opinions of others, we should never be ruled by them. If you let it criticism will steal your individuality, rob you of your creativity, and stop you from fulfilling your destiny. That is too much power to give anybody. Insecure people will always criticise you, especially if your choices differ from theirs. That is because they are uncomfortable with things that do not conform to their way of thinking. Secure people can handle being the only one doing something. They can allow others the liberty to be different and to make their own choices. That is because they themselves are secure in who God has called them to be.
Listen: '[He] made himself of no reputation...' (Philippians 2:7 KJV). Jesus obviously wasn't too concerned about what others thought of Him. He had a goal; to do the Father's will, no more and no less. And He knew that to do it He had to be free from the opinions of others. So do you! The greatest tragedy that could happen to you would be to grow old and realise that somewhere along the way you lost yourself and never succeeded at being the person God called you to be. And that is a distinct possibility if you allow the opinions of others to rule your life. Paul says, 'It matters very little to me what you think of me, even less where I rank in popular opinion. I do not even rank myself...The Master makes that judgment' (1 Corinthians 4:3-4 TM). Today, ask God to set you free from the opinions of others.

Choose your friends wisely
Now this is SCARY!!! Because I was just thinking about this topic this same morning as I was getting ready....I got to work and opened my mail and found this....wow....!
August 25 - Choose Friends Wisely
"I wrote you in my [previous] letter not to associate(closely and habitually) with unchaste (impure) people."
(1 Corinthians 5:9, Amp)
The company you keep has such an influence on your spiritual life. Fellowshiping with godly people will help speed you on to victory, while fellowshiping with those who are ungodly will drag you down to defeat.
That's why the Bible has some things to say about your friends. That's why it tells you to separate yourself from the world. Because evil companions will corrupt you.
Now, I'm not talking about ministry. Jesus Himself ministered to sinners. You have to mix with them to preach to them and pray for them. What I'm talking about here are the people you choose for friends.
If you want to walk in the things of the Lord, don't choose friends who walk in the things of the devil, people who talk and act ungodly, who don't give God any place in their lives. They'll pull you down. As you rub shoulders with them, you'll expose yourself to temptation. You'll get so familiar with sin it will start to appear less repulsive to you. Sooner or later, you'll fall into it.
So choose your friends wisely. Fellowship with those who call on the Name of the Lord out of a pure heart (2 Tim. 2:22). Expose yourself to their love and peace. Let their faith rub off on you!
Scripture Study: 1 Corinthians 5:9-13

Voices...1
Voices Part 1:
YOUR EARS WILL HEAR A VOICE...SAYING...THIS IS THE WAY; WALK IN IT' ISAIAH 30:21
Have you ever decided to launch into a new venture when suddenly a voice within you whispered, 'You must be out of your mind. You're not capable of this. Those little accomplishments you had before were pure luck; you just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Now you are in over your head.' That voice will wake you in the middle of the night with the bitter taste of bile in your mouth and shudders of fear up your spine. It can be heard wherever you are. It is an evil voice; it does not play fair. It preys on your deepest anxieties, basest frailties, insecurities and inhibitions.
But there is another voice; God's! Attuning your ears to His voice does not mean all your problems are automatically solved, or that the other voice just fades away. No, it is more like having an intimate conversation with an old friend in a noisy, crowded place. There may be other voices around you, but you do not hear them because you are so focused on what your friend is saying. It is the same with the voice of God. Whether He speaks to you through the Scriptures, through a friend or through your life circumstances, He's always communicating with the heart that seeks Him.
His promise to you is, '...your ears will hear a voice...saying "This is the way; walk in it."' One word from God, just one, can change everything for you. So today take time to listen for His voice!

Voices, Part 2
Voices, Part 2
'...YOUR EARS WILL HEAR A VOICE...SAYING...THIS IS THE WAY; WALK IN IT' ISAIAH 30:21
To be successful at anything God calls you to, you must: a) constantly be in touch with the Holy Spirit within you b) learn to recognise when He speaks to you through His Word. When the pressure is on and you are tempted to move too quickly, you will hear His voice saying: 'You will not leave in haste or go in flight; for the Lord will go before you...God...will be your rear guard [He will come behind you and back you up]' (Isaiah 52:12 NIV).
When you don't have the wherewithal to get the job done, His voice will whisper, 'The Lord will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a...spring whose waters never fail' (Isaiah 58:11 NIV).
When you run out of answers and do not know what to do, His voice will whisper, 'I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you' (Psalm 32:8 NIV). When the load becomes too heavy to carry, you will hear His voice saying, 'Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall' (Psalm 55:22 NIV. Today, take time to listen for God's voice.
Amen Amen Amen!!! Loving this series!
